Apologies in the delay in posting these photos but the week following this we had a special farewell and last week was catch up so enjoy and see you at the next one on the 5th September.
This is a combined Paddington-Woollahra RSL and Maroubra RSL sub-Branches walk for Thursday 6th Oct. Let's all look at supporting this event which will be led by our own Warren Crotty, so see you there.
A very heart felt sentiment and gesture for a dear and departed friend and past Maroubra sub-Branch President which is shared by all at Maroubra RSL sub-Branch.

"Never done this before ringing the bell at Australia's highest lifted point. Top of Karel's Lift at Thredbo in memory of my Army mate of 60 years Barry (Ben) Goddard following his passing Tuesday night. RIP my friend"
I am sad to hear of the passing of Ben Goddard. Last time I saw Ben would have been 22 years ago at a Reunion. We were at Apprentices school together, also Malaysia along with Norm Kollias and Col Fogarty just to mention a few. We also played Rugby.
We will unfortunately not be able to attend the Funeral as we have another to attend the next day in Melbourne. I am enclosing a photo that may be used to show on screen on the day if anyone would like to include.
From L /R Ben Goddard, Norm Kollias, Bomber Brown,Bluey Hanson and Gabby Hayes . Taken about 1961 -63 Camp Terendak,103 Fd Bty. LAD Section.
Condolences to Family and Friends,
Kind Regards, Dale (Gabby) Hayes.
This is the Walking Football event being hosted by Paddington-Woollahra next Thursday 14th starting at 3.00pm it is an indoor event at the UTS Rugby Australia Building located on Moore Park Rd. Please let me know if you want to attend
Well our walk last week was covered off by the local Eastern Suburbs paper South East Voice. A good article that not only covered our walk and future dates to keep in your diaries but the true value of these events for veterans, families and the community not only to participate but socialise with other friends and sub-Branches.
Hoping you can come along for the next event on 1 Aug at Heffron Park.
What a great collage of photos from St. Aidan's Catholic Primary School excursion to the Kokoda Track Memorial Walkway. This just shows that our younger generation are keen to learn and reflect on our past.
Well done Jim C Vice President at Maroubra RSL sub-Branch!
The following is a note to Jim C from one of the teachers at St Aidan's:
Jim,
Happy to hear that you enjoyed the card. The kids really enjoyed the excursion, I would recommend it to anyone!
Hi, I'm writing to you as I was Born and Bred in Maroubra Junction. I returned to Sydney a couple of years ago, for my closure of my family, who are in Botany Cemetery. I walked back from Pagewood to Maroubra Junction to visit the Maroubra RSL, and was told that the South Sydney Leagues club had bought out the RSl. I was the first Member who had returned from active service in Vietnam, to join the RSL. I played Golf with the RSL Social club, which had Members The BIRD T(om Costello) Ron Munro, Jim Thomas, Etc. My father was a Returned soldier from World War 2. His name was Arthur Carter. and was was in the Committee of the club. Very disappointing to see the club had been sold, since I moved to QLd. Keith Carter.

The beach walk was a great success with over 20 people turning out on not the nicest of mornings. What was really fantastic was the two other sub-Branches (Paddington & Matraville) and a number of family members that turned out.
'The Pavillion' at the beach was our venue for the morning tea and they did not let us down with great seating inside and staff that were more than supportive in ensuring we had a wonderful time.
RSL NSW also attended and they have been great with their assistance in getting this our first event up and running so a special thanks to Jen with all her hard work behind the scenes.
For our next event let's ALL pencil in 11.00am Monday 1st August to be held at Hefron Park. So keep watching our Facebook page were more details and events will get posted.
We have planned out 3 different walks so you are able to choose which suits you best and hopefully everyone can have a great day.
Please ensure you let the organiser's know you are attending so we can ensure we have the final numbers for the day prior to the event.
So let's ALL get proactive and spread the word!!
Walking Soccer, well who would have thought this would be so much fun but 6 people from Maroubra sub-Branch and 2 family members did just that on Thursday afternoon.
Maroubra RSL sub-Branch hosted a luncheon for some of the 39 OS Battalion group that were undertaking the Kakoda track walk in commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the Kokoda Campaign. We look forward to seeing and hearing the trek.
One of the great initiatives the sub-branch has recently undertaken has been to organise for six local schools to attend the Kokoda Track Memorial Walkway at Homebush. As these photos and the comment outline from one school their heart felt gratitude towards the veterans who led them through this wonderful memorial and the wealth of information they all walked away with. I understand they all had a great time both at the memorial and the bus trip back singing some of our great songs. Great initiative Warren & the committee and such a wonderful story!!.
Well the City to Surf has been run and the Maroubra RSL sub-Branch had 4 representatives participating with the RSL NSW team. We all finished, some sorer than others but all had a great day. Thanks to Jen at RSL NSW for organising!
